There is a dining experience that will leave you feeling pampered and relaxed: afternoon tea. Guests are seated at the table adorned with fresh flowers and beautiful (and often charmingly mismatched) china. Tea is served hot in a tea pot which is continually refreshed throughout the seating; please do not ask for coffee or a glass of water. If previously you haven’t favored hot tea, perhaps you have not experiences the British teas (such as Typhoo, Yorkshire Gold and Rosie Lee) which are very different from Lipton. You will be amazed at the variety of flavors offered; the aromas will awaken you senses and the food with pamper your taste buds. The tradition of afternoon teas comes from England. Tea was served between four and six o’clock in the afternoon, during which guests were offered tea, bread, butter and cake. Most tea rooms today serve tea from noon to five o’clock. The menu has also changed to include three particular courses served specifically in this order: savories (finger sandwiches), scones (scone is a small unsweetened or lightly sweetened biscuit like cake served with jam), pastries (cakes, cookies, shortbread and sweets).
