The Swan Creek Wine Trail
Located just west of Interstate 77 inWilkes and Yadkin Counties, these five wineries make up the Swan Creek Vineyard Association, all a relatively short drive from each other. All specialize in varietal wines and blends, but there are some surprises to be found: Buck Shoals is now producing several meads (honey-based wine), while Shadow Springs is producing several dessert wines, including its “Shortcake” strawberry wine. Be sure and take time to stop and smell the roses at Laurel Gray, where the tasting room is a converted 1930s milking parlor. For an amazing vineyard view, check out Raffaldini’s grand Tuscan-style patio complete with a Roman fountain, or lounge on the porch at Dobbins Creek where you can see Grandfather Mountain to the west and theWinston-Salem skyline to the east.
